Athlete from Master division, IBJJF European champion and two-time World Pro champion, Cássio Silva now has another title in his record: champion of the CFJJB GP, the French Jiu-Jitsu Confederation. Held on December 21st, the professional grappling event reserved two fights for Caio, who went through them unscathed until becoming champion.
In an interview with VF Comunica, the professor at the School of Champs, in France, said that in the tournament it was possible to put recently trained techniques into practice. This way, he was able to distinguish strengths and identify adjustments to be made.
“I had a very good campaign at the CFJJB GP, I went to test my knowledge about leglocks that I didn’t have in my No Gi game before and, recently, I’ve been training. I had a lot of success attacking the legs, but unfortunately I didn’t achieve my objective, which was to finish.”, reveals Cássio, happy with the result, but admitting that he would have liked to have shown more effectiveness.
Well-planned training reflects on Cássio Silva’s golden performance
In the Grand Prix matches, Cássio states that, as he was so well trained, he did not feel threatened in any of them. A dominant Brazilian on the competitive scene in Paris, the black-belt took a brief look back at 2023, aiming for more gold medals next season.
“It was a very blessed year of competition, the objective was to win the IBJJF European, the ‘Brasileiro’, the AJP Worlds and the CFJJB Pro League, at home. I just didn’t win the Brazilian Championship, but I intend to go for it in 2024,” he says.
CFJJB has the potential to grow a lot, says the black-belt
Regarding his most recent commitment, the French Pro League, Cássio described the experience as exciting, with a title won in a federation for which he has affection, under the enthusiastic support of his students.
“The CFJJB Pro League was the most memorable competition for me this year. I fought at all belts in this organization, it was the first edition of a majestic event that will grow even more and I am the first champion in the -70kg division, at home, with my students present, it was a lot of emotion.”, he remembers with pride.
