On October 10th, Cassia has a grappling fight scheduled at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 8, a duel in the 61 kg division against Cindy Ung. The following month, in November, it will be the black-belt’s turn to be present at The Crown, in the lightweight Gi GP with Luiza Monteiro as the current champion.
Bruno Bastos revealed that Cassia already had potential for The Crown since the Worlds
According to Bruno Bastos, negotiations for The Crown began as soon as he graduated Cassia on the Worlds podium, in California. At that point, the athlete was already in the spotlight due to her rapid rise to black-belt.
“We started talking about The Crown as soon as I promoted Cassia at the Worlds. Since the IBJJF had held a superfights GP at Jiu-Jitsu Con last year, my approach was based on that. Then, they told me about The Crown. Even though it was a heavier weight class, it made sense to me not only because of the opportunity, but because I truly believe in our work so that Cassia can be victorious at the event.”.
The athlete’s Jiu-Jitsu game is the kind that fits in with superfight events
Cassia Moura’s performance, always displaying progressive Jiu-Jitsu, is quite attractive for grappling events. At Who’s Number One this year, she debuted with a victory by submission in her final days as a brown-belt. According to Bruno, the contract with the UFC was signed in September.
“We couldn’t say anything because of the confidentiality clause, but since we got back from Jiu-Jitsu Con we’ve been preparing for the challenge at the UFC Fight Pass Invitational. The approach to the fight changes only in relation to the fact that Cindy Ung has a different style than Jessie Crane (Cassia’s opponent at WNO). Overall, the objective is the same: to perform, entertain and win by submission. Cassia has all the conditions to do that.”, Bruno assured.
