Four-time IBJJF World Champion Erich Munis is set to return to the BJJ Stars mats to defend his absolute division title. The Brazilian black belt, who claimed the open-weight crown at BJJ Stars 10, will put his belt on the line against Polish powerhouse Adam Wardzinski — the current European, Pan, and World champion. Their clash is one of the most anticipated matchups at BJJ Stars 15, scheduled for April 26 at the Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu, in São Paulo.

“My expectations for this match are really high,” said Munis. “Adam is going through a great phase, and it’ll be exciting to defend the title against him. We’ve only fought once before, in the 2021 World Pro final, where I won on points. Since then, I believe I’ve evolved a lot. Back then, I only had a strong guard game, but now I feel more complete in other areas.”

Munis is coming off a flawless season. In 2024 alone, he claimed the World title in the absolute division, the European Championship, and also captured IBJJF The Crown. But the Soldiers Jiu-Jitsu representative knows he’ll be facing one of the best — if not the best — European competitors in Jiu-Jitsu history.

“Adam has a more ‘old school’ style, and that might be his biggest strength,” Munis added. “It’s harder to defend against things most people don’t do. Everyone knows his hook game is dangerous, and he has a lot of variations, which makes it tough for guard passers. But I believe I’m very fast for my weight, and that could play in my favor. I expect this to be a dynamic fight, where both of us try to impose our strengths. I know there are a lot of variables in a match, but I’m training to submit. That’s my goal.”

BJJ Stars 15 kicks off on April 26 at 7 PM, with doors opening at 5 PM at the Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu. Tickets are nearly sold out. The event will be available via pay-per-view on a streaming platform that also provides access to its full library for one month.
