The great result at the IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Con earned Sienna Ocean not only the gold medal in the tournament, but also the achievement of a new rank. Now, the kid athlete from AOJ is a yellow-belt, a responsibility that the girl, confident in her own abilities, carries without fear.
At the IBJJF Toronto International Open, in Canada, last weekend, the athlete debuted in the belt with a gold medal, reaching the new phase with favoritism.
“Now, I will be in a tougher bracket with more advanced girls who have been doing Jiu-Jitsu for a much longer than I have. I’m looking forward to going to tournaments as a yellow-belt and get challenged by my new opponents.”.
Sienna already debuted as a yellow-belt, the result was gold
In her performance at the IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Con in Las Vegas, Sienna fought flawlessly and concluded the competition being rewarded with the gold medal after a dominant performance.
“I felt really confident in my fights at Jiu Jitsu CON and that all my hard work and training was going to pay off. In the first match, I went into the match and scored 15 points and finished with an arm bar. In my second match, I took the back and finished with a rear naked choke.”.
“Taking Jiu-Jitsu so seriously at my age can be both exciting and challenging. Some of the main obstacles I face are not being able to go to events with my friends since I have training or a tournament. It’s important to maintain a love for the sport and not lose sight of why you started doing Jiu-Jitsu in the first place. Support from my family, friends, and coaches can also play a significant role in overcoming challenges and face the pressure.”.
For next season, the athlete wants even bigger challenges
As motivation for the next season, Sienna mentioned her arrival at the yellow-belt, a phase that holds surprises in the competitive field. There are new opponents, new styles to study and it will be necessary to adopt a different strategy.
The competitor, who loves playing X guard and toureando passing, also spoke about dedication, which is essential for anyone who wants to pursue a career in it.
“Success in athletics requires dedication. You need to develop a structured training plan and stick to it, but also listen to your body and allow for rest and recovery. It is also important to build strong relationships with teammates and competitors. Good sportsmanship and teamwork are key to personal and team success, and they contribute to a positive competitive experience.”.
