Who is Aurelie Le Vern

Aurelie Le Vern was born in Aix-en-Provence, in the south of France, on July 12, 1991, and came to Jiu-Jitsu late. With a degree in Physical Education, she moved to French Guiana in 2016 to work as a teacher. There she took up judo and, in September 2017, at 26, had her first Jiu-Jitsu class with Tyrone Gonsalves, who gave her every belt.

She rose fast. She was a world champion at blue belt in 2019, purple in 2021 and brown in 2022, and received her black belt in January 2023 at the IBJJF Europeans. That same year she left her teaching job to compete full time and took bronze at the Pans and the Worlds. In 2024 she won the Europeans at medium-heavyweight and the ADCC Trials for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

At the ADCC World Championship in Las Vegas, she lost in the first round to Helena Crevar. In October she won double gold at the No-Gi Europeans, and in November she made her debut at ADXC, a grappling event held in a cage, in Rio de Janeiro, beating Ana Carolina Vieira, then the ADCC champion, by unanimous decision. After the match, she told VF Comunica she still had a way to go without the gi: “Grappling is really a show business and I haven’t gotten to where I want to be in the world of No Gi.”

In 2025 she was runner-up at the Europeans, the Pans and the Brazilian Nationals in the gi, and joined UFC BJJ. She submitted Maggie Grindatti with an Americana in her debut in July and, in December, at UFC BJJ 4, submitted Raquel Canuto with a Kimura to become the promotion’s first women’s featherweight champion. She lost the belt to Rebeca Lima by decision in April 2026 and returned to the win column at UFC BJJ 11, against Rana Willink.
