Cássia Moura Remesar was born on December 22, 2005, in Realengo, a neighborhood on the west side of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She started jiu-jitsu in 2014, following her brother Jesus, at Ypê Jiu-Jitsu, a social project run by Claudio Nascimento and supervised by Bruno Bastos.

As a juvenile blue belt she won the Brazilian Nationals in her weight class and the open class in 2021 and 2022. In May 2023, at 17, she traveled to the United States to compete at the Worlds and stayed. She now lives and trains in Midland, Texas, with Bruno Bastos, the head of LEAD BJJ.

She moved through the belts fast. She won the Worlds at blue belt in June 2023 and got her purple belt on the podium. At purple belt she won her weight class and the open class at the No-Gi Pans and the open class at the No-Gi Worlds, and in December of that year she got her brown belt. In 2024 she won the Pans and the Worlds at featherweight, the Worlds with four submissions in four matches plus a bronze in the open class. Bruno Bastos gave her the black belt on May 30, 2024, when she was 18.

Her first tournament as a black belt was Jiu-Jitsu CON, which she won. In December 2024 she won the No-Gi Worlds at featherweight. In 2025 she took bronze at the Europeans, silver at the Pans, gold at the Brazilian Nationals and bronze at the Worlds, then closed the year with her second No-Gi world title, this time at heavyweight. In January 2026 she won the Europeans, beating Larissa Campos in the final.

At the same time she built a career in superfights. She beat Cindy Ung and Sarah Galvão at the UFC Fight Pass Invitational. When the UFC launched UFC BJJ, its jiu-jitsu league, she beat Talita Alencar and Alex Enriquez in 2025. On March 12, 2026, she beat Ffion Davies by split decision and became the league’s first women’s bantamweight champion. She defended the title in May with a rear-naked choke on Sabrina Gondim, and in August she submitted Bre Stikk with an armbar in the semifinal of the flyweight Grand Prix. The final, against Adele Fornarino, was set for October 8, 2026, at UFC BJJ 12, with the flyweight belt on the line.

At The Crown, the IBJJF’s invitational, she competed at lightweight in 2024 and 2025. She placed third the second time, beating Bianca Basílio in the bronze medal match.
