Pawel Jaworski won medium-heavyweight and absolute gold at the 2026 IBJJF European No-Gi Championship in Rome on Sunday, November 1. The 22-year-old from Poland finished both finals with heel hooks, and the division title completed his IBJJF No-Gi Grand Slam. According to the IBJJF, he is the first man to do it.

The run started last December, when he won the No-Gi Worlds at medium-heavyweight. This year he took double gold at both the Brazilian Nationals No-Gi and the No-Gi Pans. The European title was the last piece. In Rome he went 8 for 8, all by submission.

His path to gold

At medium-heavyweight, Jaworski heel-hooked Sebastian Sonntag in the quarterfinals and fellow Pole Mateusz Flaga in the semifinals. In the final he faced Pipo Chiappe, who had beaten No-Gi Pans runner-up David Garmo on a referee decision. Jaworski pulled guard, isolated the foot and finished another heel hook quickly.

In the absolute final, Marcelo Fausto also tried to play guard, and the match saw double guard pull penalties before Jaworski got to his game from bottom. He isolated the leg and won by heel hook.

A season like no other

Jaworski got his black belt in December 2024. Since then, he has won every major IBJJF no-gi title, went 8 for 8 by submission at the 2026 Brazilian Nationals No-Gi, and became Poland’s first ADCC world champion in Krakow in September.

His teammate Martyna Kapuścińska also took double gold in Rome, beating favorite Injana Goodman with a footlock in the women’s absolute final. Academia Gorila finished first in the team standings for both adult men and adult women.

Can anyone stop Jaworski at the No-Gi Worlds in December?
