Cássia Moura made history at UFC BJJ 12. In Thursday night’s main event, October 8, at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, the Brazilian beat Adele Fornarino by split decision in the flyweight Grand Prix final to claim the division’s inaugural belt. With the win, she becomes the first athlete in UFC BJJ history to hold two belts at the same time: the bantamweight title she already owned and now the flyweight strap.

At 20 years old, Cássia remains unbeaten in the promotion, with six wins in six matches since her debut, a run that puts her at the center of women’s no-gi jiu-jitsu in 2026.

A high-level final

Adele Fornarino came into the final as one of the most dangerous names in the division. An IBJJF world champion and two-time ADCC champion, according to the UFC, the Australian booked her spot by submitting Carol Brunacio with a straight foot lock in the other Grand Prix semifinal. The match was close from start to finish and went to the judges, who gave the win to the Brazilian by split decision.

Cássia had reached the final by submitting Bre Stikk with an armbar at 4:31 of their semifinal at UFC BJJ 10 in August.

The road to two belts

Cássia’s UFC BJJ run began with wins over Talita Alencar and Alex Enriquez. On March 12, at UFC BJJ 6, she also beat Ffion Davies by split decision to win the bantamweight belt. In May, at UFC BJJ 8, she made her first title defense with a rear-naked choke on Sabrina Gondim.

With the bantamweight title secured, she accepted the challenge of dropping a division to enter the Grand Prix that would crown the first flyweight champion. VF Comunica had already pointed out that she could become the first two-division champion in UFC BJJ, and she delivered in Las Vegas.

Before the final, in an interview with VF Comunica, Cássia summed up her game plan: “I want to impose my game from the first second.”
