Cassia Moura, 20, can become the first two-division champion in UFC BJJ
Unbeaten in five matches and already the bantamweight champion, the Brazilian faces Australia’s Adele Fornarino on Thursday, October 8, for the first flyweight title

Cassia Moura can make history this Thursday, October 8. The 20-year-old Brazilian faces Adele Fornarino in the main event of UFC BJJ 12, in Las Vegas, for the first women’s flyweight title of the organization. UFC BJJ is the grappling league of the UFC: the athletes fight without strikes and try to win by submission.
Moura is already the bantamweight champion. If she wins, she will be the first athlete to hold two UFC BJJ titles at the same time.
Five matches, five wins
Moura has never lost in the organization. She beat Talita Alencar at UFC BJJ 1 and Alex Enriquez at UFC BJJ 3, both by decision. In March, at UFC BJJ 6, she won the first bantamweight title against Ffion Davies, from Wales, an ADCC champion. In May, at UFC BJJ 8, she defended the title with a submission.
She earned her place in the flyweight title match in August, at UFC BJJ 10. In the semifinal of the flyweight Grand Prix, a tournament to decide the first champion, Moura submitted Bre Stikk with an armbar at 4:31 of the first round.
Who is her opponent
Adele Fornarino has two matches and two submissions in UFC BJJ. In the other Grand Prix semifinal, the Australian caught Carol Brunacio with a straight ankle lock at 2:53. Outside the organization, she is an IBJJF world champion and a two-time ADCC world champion, according to the UFC.
From Rio to Texas
Moura was born in Rio de Janeiro. She trains with coach Bruno Bastos in Midland, Texas, where she moved in 2023. She received her black belt in June 2024, after she won world titles at blue belt and brown belt. In January this year, she won the IBJJF European Championship.
UFC BJJ 12 will be streamed on UFC Fight Pass at 8 p.m. ET. See the full card. At the same event, Durinho faces Gabriel Almeida.
