Maria Vitória Ruffatto-Gilpin

Maria Vitória Gonçalves Ruffatto-Gilpin was born in May 2000 in Juiz de Fora, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. She started Jiu-Jitsu in her early teens and, in 2016, began training at Gamonal Fighters, a local gym affiliated with Brazilian Top Team. In 2018 she won the No-Gi Brazilian Nationals at blue belt.

She first traveled to the United States in 2019, the year she won No-Gi Pans at purple belt, and in late 2020 she settled in Oregon. At brown belt in 2021 she won No-Gi Worlds and the open class at Pans. She got her black belt from Gustavo Bessa and Ighor Horta in December 2022.

Her first black belt titles came in no-gi: the No-Gi Pans and the No-Gi American Nationals in 2023. In 2024 she won the ADCC South American Trials and competed at the ADCC World Championship in Las Vegas. That same year she reached the finals of her weight class and the open class at No-Gi Pans, both against Elisabeth Clay, and won two bronze medals at No-Gi Worlds.

Since 2025 she has competed for Canby Jiu-Jitsu, in Oregon, and that year she won the open class at the Jiu-Jitsu CON No-Gi. In 2026 she reached the gi Worlds podium for the first time: bronze in the open class, after beating Beatrice Jin and Marina Carraro and losing to Gabrieli Pessanha in the semifinal. At the Jiu-Jitsu CON she reached the open class final, against Hazel Butcher-Salazar. At No-Gi Pans in October she was runner-up in the open class, in a final against Sarah Galvão, and took bronze at heavyweight.

The IBJJF announced her as the sixth name in the super-heavyweight bracket at The Crown. It will be her debut at the event, on November 8.
