Who is Hannette Staack
Hannette Staack was born in São Luís, in the northern Brazilian state of Maranhão, on February 7, 1979, and moved to Rio de Janeiro at age 2. She started Jiu-Jitsu at 18 with coach Fernando Cruz and Master Flavio Figueiredo, and got her blue and purple belts from Fernando. When he stopped teaching, Flavio introduced her to André “Negão” Terêncio, who has coached her ever since.
Her first world title came in 2002, after five matches, in the division that combined purple, brown and black belts. She won the IBJJF World Championship again in 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011.
She was inducted into the IBJJF Hall of Fame in 2014.
