Larissa Dias

Larissa Dias de Almeida was born on September 3, 1998, in Rio de Janeiro and grew up in the Méier neighborhood. She started Jiu-Jitsu at 17, in Vinicius Marinho’s class at the local GFTeam gym. Still a white belt, she won the 2016 Brazilian Nationals. At blue belt she won the Brazilian Nationals and the South Americans in 2017, in her weight class and the open class, and was Worlds runner-up in 2018. At purple belt she won the Brazilian Nationals and Worlds in 2019.

When Marinho moved to Qatar, she began training with the Dream Art project in São Paulo. She won the 2021 Pans at brown belt and got her black belt from Marinho on November 24 of that year. A little over six months later she won the 2022 Worlds at heavyweight. She now lives in Winter Park, Florida, and represents Elementum Jiu-Jitsu.

She lost the 2023 Worlds final to Melissa Cueto and the 2024 semifinal to Amanda Magda. In 2025 she took the title back, beating Yara Soares in the final, and won Pans for the second time. In 2026 she repeated both golds. At Worlds she submitted all three opponents: Maria Vitória Ruffatto-Gilpin with a tarikoplata, and Yara Soares and Maria Alencar with toe holds. All three are in the Crown bracket.

Outside the majors, she competes often at IBJJF Opens in the United States, usually at super-heavyweight and in the open class. Since the start of 2025 she has 43 wins and one loss at federation events.

That loss came at the 2025 Crown. After submitting Giovanna Carneiro with a collar choke, she lost the semifinal to Tayane Porfírio by one advantage. In the bronze-medal match she submitted Maria Alencar with a toe hold. She returns to the event on November 8.
