José Steve hides his game plan to beat Uanderson
The DreamArt athlete says there is nowhere to hide at middleweight and won’t reveal his strategy

José Steve returns to The Crown this Sunday, November 8, at the Pyramid in Long Beach, California, opening the middleweight division against Uanderson Ferreira. The 2025 brown belt World Champion made his Crown debut last year in his first season at black belt.
“You know, in this middleweight bracket, there’s nowhere to hide. Every single match could easily be a Worlds final. I think the matchup against Uanderson is going to be a very interesting one. He’s an extremely explosive and experienced competitor, so I know I’ll have to stay in control throughout the entire match,” Steve told VF Comunica. “As for what I think will be the key to beating him? Well, I’m definitely not going to give that away right now! But one thing I can tell you is that we have a game plan, and I intend to stick to it from start to finish. The goal is simple: get my hand raised and secure my spot in those long-awaited semifinals, and ultimately, the final!”
The winner could meet Mica Galvão in the semifinals, according to the Crown 2026 brackets.
Who gets through: Steve or Ferreira?
VF Comunica’s coverage of The Crown is presented by Kingz.
