Uanderson Ferreira

Uanderson Ferreira de Oliveira was born in Rio de Janeiro on January 10, 2001, and grew up in the Morro de São João community, in the city’s North Zone. He played soccer and practiced capoeira until age 8, when his parents signed him up for Jiu-Jitsu to keep him away from violence. His first coach was Marcio Carreira.

While still a blue belt, he moved to the United Arab Emirates with Carreira’s support and began representing Commando Group, based in Abu Dhabi. On the AJP circuit he won the World Pro at blue, purple and brown belt, in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

In early 2023, as a brown belt, he won the IBJJF Europeans in his weight class and the open class. He got his black belt on February 4 from Marcio Carreira and made his debut at the new rank with gold at the London Open two weeks later.

At the 2024 Pans he won medium-heavyweight but lost the title: a test taken at the tournament showed a THC metabolite, and USADA issued a three-month suspension, counted from April. The agency noted that the use was out of competition and unrelated to sports performance. In November of that year he won the World Pro, beating William Dias in the final, and repeated the title in 2025.

In IBJJF events, he won the Pan Pacific in 2025 at heavyweight and in the open class. In 2026 he won the Asian Championship and the Jiu-Jitsu CON at medium-heavyweight and took bronze at Europeans. At Worlds he lost in the second round to Manuel Ribamar.

At The Crown on November 8 he is in the middleweight bracket.
