Francisco Lo accepted a three-year suspension for an anti-doping rule violation, USADA announced on June 23, 2025. The 24-year-old athlete tested positive for a long-term metabolite of DHCMT (dehydrochloromethyltestosterone) and for 19-norandrosterone, a metabolite of nandrolone, in an in-competition test at the IBJJF Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship on March 23, 2025.

According to the agency, the sample went through isotope ratio analysis, which distinguishes a substance produced by the body from one of synthetic origin, and the result was consistent with an external origin. DHCMT and nandrolone are anabolic steroids, banned at all times under the World Anti-Doping Code.

The applicable sanction was four years. Under Article 10.8.1 of the World Anti-Doping Code, an athlete who admits the violation and accepts the sanction within 20 days of being notified is entitled to a one-year reduction, and Lo qualified for it.

The suspension started counting on April 28, 2025, the date of his provisional suspension. His results since March 23, 2025, the day the sample was collected, were disqualified, with forfeiture of medals, points and prizes.

USADA was contracted by the IBJJF to run testing at the tournament. The details are in the statement published by the agency.
