From Minas Gerais to the world: FJJEMG will send its top-ranked athletes to Abu Dhabi and Europe
The state federation will reward the best of its 2026 ranking with trips to the World Pro, entries to the CBJJ Brazilian Nationals and an event in Europe
The individual ranking of the Minas Gerais State Jiu-Jitsu Federation (FJJEMG), in Brazil, rewards athletes who compete well all season. Every podium at the stages of the state championship, the Campeonato Mineiro, and at the Minas Opens adds points. The best athletes of 2026 will compete in 2027 at the World Pro in Abu Dhabi, at the CBJJ Brazilian Nationals and at an event in Europe.
Four plane tickets to the World Pro in Abu Dhabi
The main prize comes from the Abu Dhabi Special Ranking, which is for gi matches. It adds the eight stages of the state championship and the Minas Opens, and it counts the weight class, the open class and the kids challenge. There are four plane tickets to the 2027 Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, one for each group:
- Best male athlete aged 6 to 17
- Best female athlete aged 6 to 17
- Best male adult or master
- Best female adult or master
This ranking is open to all belts and uses the total points of the year. The winners must show a valid passport to the federation by May 31, 2027.
Europe for the best of the capital and the countryside
The federation also has two regional rankings. Europa Capital adds the four stages in Belo Horizonte, the state capital, and the Minas Opens. Europa Interior adds the four stages in Juiz de Fora and the Minas Opens. In each one, the best adult or master, male or female, wins a plane ticket to an event in Europe. The federation has not named the event yet.
Among athletes aged 6 to 17, the leader of each regional ranking wins a registration for the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam in Rio de Janeiro.
State team members get a spot at the Brazilian Nationals
The 20 members of the 2026 Minas Gerais state team, the Seleção Mineira, also come from the ranking: 16 spots in the gi and four in no-gi. In the gi, the spots go to the best boy and girl in three age groups (6 to 11, 12 to 15 and 16 to 17) and to the best male and female adult or master at each belt, from white to black.
The 16 gi athletes win a registration for the 2027 CBJJ Brazilian Nationals, and the four no-gi athletes win one for the Brazilian No-Gi Nationals. The state team also gets 20 free passes for all stages of the 2027 state championship.
What athletes need to do
Only athletes who are members of FJJEMG and reach the podium score points. To be part of the ranking, an athlete must compete in at least four stages of the state championship. For the special prizes, the minimum is six stages of the circuit.
The stages are not worth the same. The eighth stage is worth the most, with 1,272 points for the champion. A Minas Open title is worth 106.
The next chance to score is in Muriaé
The next chance to add points is the Muriaé Spring Minas Open on Saturday, October 24. The event was set for October 25, but the federation moved it one day earlier because of the second round of Brazil’s presidential election.
After that, the calendar has the 7th stage of the state championship on November 8 at the Mineirinho arena in Belo Horizonte, and the Nova Lima Minas Open on November 22. Registration is done through FJJEMG’s official system.
