Diego Pato submits Edu Salazar at HYPE FC with a double attack: armlock and triangle
The Brazilian attacked the arm, locked the triangle in the transition and made his opponent give up

Diego “Pato” Oliveira got one more win when he submitted Edu Salazar at HYPE Ecuador this Sunday, October 4, at the Coliseo General Rumiñahui, in Quito. He did it with a technical sequence that started with an armlock and ended with a double attack. A submission is a choke or a joint lock that makes the opponent give up.
The Brazilian attacked the arm first. In the transition, he locked a triangle, a choke made with the legs around the opponent’s neck and arm. He kept the pressure on both submissions at the same time. With no room to escape, Salazar tapped to the pressure of the triangle.
It was one more example of how Pato connects his attacks and turns one threat into another until he gets the submission.
The match could only end by submission
The match against the Ecuadorian was in the under 75kg division, with submission-only rules. This means there were no points and no decision: the only way to win was to submit the opponent. Pato, the WNO lightweight champion, came to the event as one of the main names of Brazilian jiu-jitsu today.
The event had big names from MMA
HYPE Ecuador mixed grappling matches and bare-knuckle boxing. The main event on the card was a grappling rematch between José Aldo and Marlon “Chito” Vera, almost six years after they fought in the UFC. In the co-main event, Colby Covington was matched against Mayton Perea, from Ecuador.
Before the event, VF Comunica showed how Diego Pato would share the card with Aldo and Covington.
