Pedro Machado

Pedro Henrique Pinheiro Machado de Souza was born on April 20, 1999, in Rio de Janeiro. The son of a black belt, he played soccer and surfed as a kid. He first tried Jiu-Jitsu with Paulo Avolio, stopped at yellow belt and came back at 14, in 2013, alongside his brother João Victor, with Paulo “Rabicó” Perrota.

He won titles at every colored belt: double gold at the 2017 Worlds at blue belt, back-to-back European titles at purple belt in 2018 and 2019 and, at brown belt, Europeans in 2020 and both the Brazilian Nationals and Worlds in 2021, in his weight class and the open class. He got his black belt from Perrota on December 28, 2021, the same day as his brother.

As a black belt he took bronze at Pans and Worlds in 2022 and, now with Atos, silver at Europeans and Worlds in 2023. In 2024 he lost the Pans final to Fellipe Andrew; after USADA sanctioned his opponent, the IBJJF began listing him as champion. That same year he took silver at the Brazilian Nationals and in the open class at Europeans.

He made his Crown debut in 2024, already at ultra-heavyweight: he submitted Kjetil Lydvo with an armbar and lost the semifinal to Erich Munis 15-6. In 2025 he took bronze at Pans, the Brazilian Nationals and Worlds, all at heavyweight.

He also competes no-gi at UFC BJJ. He beat Felipe Pimentel at the first event, in June 2025, lost a light heavyweight title fight to Mason Fowler in March 2026 and beat Lucas Norat by unanimous decision in September. In July, in Rio, he beat Felipe Assis at Connect Heroes.

Now with Machado Jiu-Jitsu, he returns to The Crown on November 8 two weight classes above his own, again at ultra-heavyweight. The bracket includes Francisco Papasidero, whom he beat 4-0 at the 2025 Worlds.
