Who is Bruno Malfacine

Bruno Malfacine was born in Duque de Caxias, just outside Rio de Janeiro, on August 28, 1986, and started Jiu-Jitsu at 11, encouraged by an uncle. After a break as an orange belt, when his first coach stopped teaching, he went back to training with Vinicius Amaral, who gave him every belt from blue to black, the last one in late 2006.

The following year he won his first black belt world title. In late 2008 he began training with Fabio Gurgel at Alliance, and from then on he ruled the roosterweight division: ten world titles through 2018, with only one lost final in that stretch, in 2013.

His nickname, Bad Boy, came from his training partners when he was a kid. He was inducted into the IBJJF Hall of Fame in 2014, while his title run was still going.
