Gabi McComb calls out Cassia Moura for UFC BJJ: “The nogi match in the bowl will be fireworks”

The world champion pointed out that the two are 1-1 in the gi and tagged UFC BJJ president Claudia Gadelha to ask for a no-gi match

Cassia Moura barely had time to celebrate her two UFC BJJ belts before a challenger came knocking. Gabi McComb, the 2021 world champion and this year’s Worlds runner-up, used the comments of a VF Comunica Instagram post on Friday, October 9, to ask for a no-gi match against the Brazilian, tagging UFC BJJ president Claudia Gadelha.

“We are 1-1 in Gi we have a similar style both of are matches were exciting I been asking this match for while. I believe the nogi match in the bowl will be fireworks 🙋🏻‍♀️ can you give me shot @claudiagadelha ?” Gabi wrote. The Bowl is UFC BJJ’s competition area.

The post she replied to featured Gadelha talking about Cassia’s rise. At UFC BJJ 12 on Thursday in Las Vegas, the 20-year-old beat Adele Fornarino by split decision and became the first athlete in the promotion to hold two belts at the same time, at bantamweight and flyweight.

A 1-1 series waiting for a tiebreaker

Gabi’s numbers check out. Their first meeting came at The Crown in November 2024, in the lightweight bronze match, and McComb won 10-4 in a frantic match. The second was at the 2025 World Championship, in the featherweight quarterfinals, and this time Moura got the referee decision.

Both matches were in the gi. Gabi wants to settle it under UFC BJJ rules, no-gi and over three rounds, where Cassia is a perfect 6-0 in the promotion.

Who is Gabi McComb

Born in Manaus, Brazil, and based in the United States, Gabi McComb won the featherweight world title in 2021, beating Bianca Basilio in the final, and the 2023 No-Gi World title at middleweight. In 2026, she returned to the gi Worlds final and took silver after losing to Sabrina Gondim.

At the same time, she has been building an unbeaten MMA career. In late September, she won the 559 Fights flyweight title in California, with former UFC champion Alexa Grasso in her corner. Gabi has also competed in UFC grappling before: in 2024, she fought at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 8 and was submitted by Raquel Canuto.

The Fornarino rematch is first in line

The callout comes after Gadelha had already pointed the champion in another direction. At the UFC BJJ 12 press conference, the president backed an immediate rematch with Adele Fornarino. “We’ll have to go back to the matchmaking room on Tuesday and think about what we’ll do next. But I think the right thing to do is to run this one back and have a rematch between her and Adele,” she said.

Gadelha has not publicly answered Gabi’s comment yet. Moura, for her part, made it clear at the same press conference that she wants to stay busy with two belts to defend and expects to be back soon.
