Who is Kyra Gracie
Kyra Gracie was born in Rio de Janeiro on May 29, 1985. A granddaughter of Robson Gracie, who is a son of Carlos Gracie, she grew up in the same house as her uncles Ralph, Ryan and Renzo and played at Jiu-Jitsu from an early age. She began training regularly at around 11 and started competing as a yellow belt.
In her teens, already a blue belt, she heard from the men in her family that the sport was too rough for her, and she kept going anyway. She trained for a long time with Alexandre Soca and, in 2005, moved to the Gracie Barra headquarters, where her uncle Carlos Gracie Jr. gave her a black belt at age 21.
She won the IBJJF World Championship in 2004, 2006, 2008, when she took both her weight class and the open class, and 2010. She was inducted into the IBJJF Hall of Fame in 2014.
