Academia Gorila leaves the Pan No-Gi with five gold medals and two double champions
Besides Pawel Jaworski, Sebastian Patyk won his weight class and the open class at brown belt, and Martyna Kapuscinska won gold at black belt
Pawel Jaworski’s two gold medals were not the only result for Academia Gorila at the IBJJF Pan No-Gi 2026. According to the official IBJJF brackets, the team left Secaucus, New Jersey, with five gold medals in the adult divisions. Three athletes won them.
Jaworski: weight class and open class at black belt
Jaworski won the medium-heavy division and the open class, the division with all weights together. He beat Wallisson Oliveira in the last final. The result came three weeks after his gold medal at the ADCC, in Krakow, where he became the first Polish champion of the tournament. The ADCC is the most important no-gi grappling tournament in the world.
After the Pan No-Gi, he thanked his coaches and the whole team on social media. He wrote that their support lets him be where he dreamed of being as a kid.
Patyk: his first gold at a major tournament, and then a second one
At brown belt, Sebastian Patyk did the same as Jaworski. He won the middleweight division, with a win over Winter Breget (Atos) in the final. He also won the open class, where he beat Abraham La Montagne (Kingsway) in the final. According to the team, Patyk was always one of the best, but he had never won gold at a major tournament before.
Kapuscinska: champion at black belt
In the women’s divisions, Martyna Kapuscinska won gold at medium-heavy black belt. She won three matches and beat Fernanda Cristo by submission in the final, according to FloGrappling.
