Four opponents, four submissions, one ADCC title and a goodbye. Less than three weeks later, Victor Hugo already knows the next chapter of his career.

The Brazilian will make his ONE Championship debut against Devhonte “Bones” Johnson, the 2021 IBJJF No-Gi world champion. The match has no weight limit. It happens at ONE Fight Night 49 on November 6 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

And the timing could hardly be better for the “Big Man Flow.”

Victor comes to ONE after the most dominant run of his ADCC career. He had four matches and four submissions to win gold in the over-99 kg (218 lb) division for the first time. Even more impressive: according to ONE Championship, all four submissions started with Victor playing from the bottom.

That stat helps explain why an athlete who stands about 6-foot-4 and weighs about 260 pounds is known as “Big Man Flow.”

Victor Hugo closed a chapter at ADCC

The title also came with a goodbye. After submitting Josh Saunders in the final to win his first ADCC gold, Victor said he does not plan to compete in the famous tournament again.

“I feel fulfilled,” Victor said after the win. He admitted that is a rare feeling for an athlete who is usually always chasing something more.

That decision makes his move to ONE more than just a change of promotion.

It is the start of a new phase. Victor leaves behind the big-bracket tournament format and enters a world built mostly around superfights, which are single matches between top names.

And his first opponent is far from a warm-up match.

Who is Devhonte Johnson?

Devhonte “Bones” Johnson will also make his ONE Championship debut. The American was the IBJJF No-Gi world champion in 2021 and has also won titles at the No-Gi Pans and the No-Gi Europeans.

Victor gets attention for attacking from the guard even at his size. Johnson brings a different problem. The American has explosive wrestling and heavy top pressure, and he likes to move to the front headlock, where he threatens guillotines, D’Arces and anacondas.

That makes for a very interesting clash of styles.

Is ONE collecting ADCC champions?

There is another important detail behind the signing. Victor Hugo is not the only ADCC 2026 champion now tied to ONE Championship.

Helena Crevar and Pawel Jaworski also won their divisions this year and are part of the promotion’s roster.

Their arrival shows how ONE is making moves in pro grappling at a time when several promotions are fighting over the sport’s top athletes.

Victor Hugo vs. Devhonte Johnson happens on November 6 at ONE Fight Night 49.

The debut will answer the first question of this new phase:

will the Big Man Flow keep dominating inside ONE Championship?
