Brazilian strawweight Nicolle Caliari missed weight at the UFC 333 official weigh-ins on Friday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. She came in at 120.5 pounds, 4.5 over the 116-pound limit for a non-title strawweight bout. She forfeits 30% of her purse to fellow Brazilian Iasmin Lucindo, and the fight goes ahead at catchweight to open Saturday’s card.

Caliari was the only one of 28 fighters to miss. All four men in the two title fights, Alexander Volkanovski, Movsar Evloev, Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili, made weight.

How big was Nicolle Caliari’s miss

A non-title fight allows one extra pound. Caliari was 4.5 pounds over the limit, a little more than 2 kilograms. Lucindo did her part and stepped on the scale at 115 pounds.

Under the penalty, 30% of Caliari’s purse goes to her opponent. The UFC kept the bout as a catchweight, and the all-Brazilian matchup remains the first fight of the night in Abu Dhabi.

It is the second weight miss by a Brazilian in the UFC in less than two weeks. On Oct. 10, Ismael Bonfim came in 7.5 pounds over the lightweight limit, gave up 25% of his purse and, after losing to Francisco Prado, was cut by the UFC. It was his third weight miss with the promotion.

Who are Caliari and Iasmin Lucindo

Caliari, 29, was born in Curitiba and trains with Thai Brasil in Florianopolis. She is 9-4 as a pro and earned her UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2024 with a first-round armbar.

She dropped her first two UFC fights, to Ernesta Kareckaite and Carli Judice. In May she picked up her first win in the promotion, submitting Shauna Bannon with an arm-triangle choke in the third round.

Lucindo, 24, is from Fortaleza and holds an 18-6 record. She is 5-2 in the UFC, with wins over Marina Rodriguez, Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Angela Hill. She has not fought since August 2025 and returns after a nine-month anti-doping suspension, which she blamed on a contaminated supplement.

The UFC 333 title fights

In the main event, featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski weighed 144.5 pounds. Challenger Movsar Evloev hit the 145-pound limit on the dot. Title fights have no one-pound allowance.

Volkanovski has vowed to finish Evloev, who is 10-0 in the UFC. In the co-main event, Petr Yan defends the bantamweight title against Merab Dvalishvili in their trilogy. Both weighed 135 pounds, and Dvalishvili joked that he is a decision machine.

Alexander Volkov, who asked for a title shot this week, weighed 256 pounds for Rizvan Kuniev, who came in at 265. Brazil’s Daniel Santos made 146 for Bolaji Oki. The main card starts at 2 p.m. ET on Paramount+.
