Who is Talita Alencar

Talita Alencar was once a gi world champion and now fights inside the UFC octagon. Her title came in 2017, at her first Worlds as a black belt. In the light-featherweight final against Gezary Matuda she took a hard shot to the face during her opponent’s flying triangle attempt and still scored the two winning points in the last two minutes. That year she also won Pans, beating Kristina Barlaan on advantages after a 2-2, plus the No-Gi Worlds, the World Pro and the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam.

She was born on October 17, 1990, in Carutapera, in Maranhão, and moved with her family to Fortaleza at 9. She swam from age 4, did triathlon for about seven years and tried surfing and capoeira before starting Jiu-Jitsu in 2004 at Pirillo Roriz’s academy. She got her blue belt from Bruno Leandro at Academia Blec and moved to Rio, where she trained under Theodoro Canal at GF Team Recreio. In 2016, after winning Worlds at brown belt, she received her black belt on the podium from Júlio César Pereira, with Canal’s blessing. That August she moved to Alliance headquarters in Los Angeles.

In 2018 she returned to the world final and took silver behind Amanda Monteiro. In no-gi she won the Fight 2 Win 125 lb title in 2020 and defended it against Gabrielle McComb in early 2021. Later that year she beat McComb again, this time in the No-Gi Worlds final, for her third no-gi world title.

In July 2021 she made her MMA debut with a submission at Titan FC. After wins at Titan and LFA and a draw on the Contender Series, she reached the UFC in December 2023, beating Rayanne dos Santos by split decision. She lost to Stephanie Luciano in 2024 and then strung together three wins: Vanessa Demopoulos, Ariane Carnelossi, choked out for her first UFC submission, and Julia Polastri in April 2026. She is booked to face Piera Rodriguez on October 31, 2026.
