Fabricio Andrey

Fabricio Andrey needed one minute and five seconds to settle the 2021 featherweight world final. Against Shane Hill-Taylor he locked a triangle and finished his first year at black belt as world champion. Earlier in Anaheim he had beaten Daniel Maira 3-0, Richar Nogueira 7-2 with an early pass and back take, and Alexssandro Sodré on advantages after a 0-0 that nearly slipped away in the last ten seconds.

He was born on March 5, 2000, in Manaus and did capoeira with his father before starting Jiu-Jitsu at 13, at the end of 2013, in the Projeto Nandinho social program run by Melqui Galvão. Still a blue belt, he moved to São Paulo, where he trained at Dream Art and Alliance. He won Worlds at blue belt in 2018 and at purple in 2019, and won the Europeans at brown in 2020. Melqui gave him his black belt in August 2020, in Manaus. His nickname, Hokage, from the anime Naruto, is stitched on his gi.

In 2022 he won the Brazilian Nationals and one of the Brazilian ADCC trials, with every win by submission. At that year’s ADCC he beat Cole Abate and went out in the quarterfinals to Diogo Reis. In 2023 he won the Europeans, took silver at Pans and bronze at Worlds, and finished fourth at The Crown after losses to Isaac Doederlein and Diego Pato. That August he left Melqui Galvão’s team and began competing for Alliance.

In 2024 he took silver at Pans, won another ADCC trial and won the BJJ Stars 14 grand prix, beating Malachi Edmond, Diego Sodré and Meyram Maquiné. At ADCC he again lost in the quarterfinals to Diogo Reis. In November he signed with ONE Championship and debuted in April 2025 with a decision win over Ashley Williams in Bangkok. At that year’s Worlds he lost his first match to Eduardo Granzotto and, months later, beat the same opponent in ONE.

In 2026 he beat Meyram Maquiné in a superfight and accepted an invitation to ADCC at 66 kg. In Kraków he submitted David Santos with a triangle armlock and lost his quarterfinal to Kennedy Maciel on a referee decision.
