Danielle Piermatei won light-featherweight at Worlds three straight times, in 2003, 2004 and 2005, always for Leão Dourado, at a time when the IBJJF had no black-belt-only division for women. In 2008 she won featherweight at the first Rio International Open and passed the CBJJ referee course. The following year she was invited to teach Jiu-Jitsu to women in Abu Dhabi, alongside Caroline de Lazzer.
