Who is Caroline de Lazzer
Caroline de Lazzer won middleweight at the 2006 Worlds, in Rio de Janeiro, in the division that combined brown and black belts. She was a brown belt and beat Diana Menezes in the final. Her black belt came after the title, from Zé Mario Sperry and Walter Mattos.
Born on October 28, 1980, in Caxias do Sul, she started Jiu-Jitsu in 2001, in a women-only class set up by friends. At the same time she joined Brazil’s national wrestling team and competed at the Pan American Games in Rio in 2007.
In 2009 she moved to the United Arab Emirates to teach Jiu-Jitsu. Now a black belt, she took medium-heavyweight bronze at that year’s Worlds and, in 2010, reached the middleweight final, decided by the referees in favor of American Hillary Williams.
Today she is a fourth-degree black belt and leads De Lazzer Team.
