Who is Talita Nogueira

Talita Nogueira, known as Treta, won the 2011 medium-heavyweight world title with the final against American Penny Thomas under control. She competed for Ryan Gracie’s team, listed by the IBJJF as Gracie Elite, at a time when brown and black belt women shared a division. Pitta Junior gave her the black belt that same year.

Born on October 13, 1985, in São Paulo, she started in judo and stepped away from the mats for a few years. She came back at an MMA gym, where coach Helio Tiozinho suggested Jiu-Jitsu, and at 20 she joined Cícero Costha’s class. She earned her blue belt in about four months, purple six months later and brown in 2009, by then with Ryan Gracie’s team. Her nickname comes from Treta, a hardcore band she follows and whose name she has tattooed on her stomach.

At black belt she returned to the Worlds podium with medium-heavyweight bronze in 2012 and 2013 and super-heavyweight bronze in 2015, and took heavyweight silver in 2017, by then with NS Brotherhood, losing the final to Claudia do Val. In no-gi she lists three No-Gi Worlds titles on her own profile. She won the ADCC Brazil trials in 2011 and competed at ADCC that year and in 2017.

She signed with Bellator in 2014. She choked out Amanda Bell at Bellator 182 in 2017 and fought Julia Budd for the featherweight title at Bellator 202 in 2018, losing by third-round TKO. Her last recorded MMA fight is a unanimous decision win over Jessica Borga at Bellator 256 in 2021. In Jiu-Jitsu she kept competing until 2022, including in the masters divisions.
