Tammi Musumeci

Tammi Musumeci spent much of 2019 away from training because of law school and still finished the season on top of the world podium. At light-featherweight she beat Gezary Matuda and Talita Alencar and reached the final against Amanda Monteiro. The match ended 0-0 on points, decided by an advantage she earned when she nearly took the Brazilian’s back, and Tammi controlled the rest of the match from bottom, with Caio Terra in her corner.

She was born on July 8, 1994, in Marlboro, New Jersey, and started at 6 at Fatjo’s academy. Her family moved to Florida, where Emyr Shark Bussade became her main coach. She received her black belt in August 2013, at 19, presented by Moacir Boca Oliveira on Bussade’s behalf. The older sister and training partner of Mikey Musumeci, she graduated from UNLV’s Boyd School of Law in 2020.

At black belt she took silver at the 2014 Worlds, won Pans in 2014 and 2017 and won the No-Gi Worlds in 2013, 2015 and 2016, plus bronze at ADCC 2015 at 60 kg. In 2016 she left Atos and Art of Jiu-Jitsu for Caio Terra Association, with whom she took lightweight bronze at the 2017 Worlds and won the title in 2019.

In 2021 and 2022, by then with Pedigo Submission Fighting, she returned to the light-featherweight final both times and lost both to Anna Rodrigues. At the 2021 WNO Championship she beat Amanda Alequin and armbarred Danielle Kelly before losing to Mayssa Bastos on a split decision. In no-gi she also won the 2022 and 2023 No-Gi Worlds, the latter with a win over Jessa Khan in the final.

In 2023 she made her ONE Championship submission grappling debut with decision wins over Bianca Basílio in Singapore and Amanda Alequin in Bangkok. In July 2025 she beat Leilani Bernales by unanimous decision at UFC BJJ 2 in Las Vegas.
