Larissa “Lari” Campos

Larissa Campos started Jiu-Jitsu on an island in the Indian Ocean. Born in Araraquara, in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, she moved in 2013 to Réunion Island, a French territory east of Madagascar, and that is where she put on a gi for the first time, at 18, with no background in sports. Twelve years later she was the featherweight world champion.

Her coach was Thiago de Guimarães, a black belt from Royler Gracie’s lineage, whom she met in May of that year. Representing Gracie Humaitá, Larissa was a world champion at purple belt, in 2017, and at brown belt, in 2018, and got her black belt in December 2018, five years and three months after her first class. While still a blue belt, she was already teaching a class of women and kids.

At black belt, the podiums came fast and the top spot took a while. She was the runner-up at Europeans in 2019 and 2020 and took bronze at Worlds in 2021 and 2024. In 2024, the year she won Pans, she left Gracie Humaitá, moved to California and joined Art of Jiu-Jitsu (AOJ).

Her 2025 season started with the Europeans title. At Pans she took bronze, stopped by Cassia Moura in the semifinal. They met again in the Worlds semifinal: 2-2 on the scoreboard and a win for Larissa on advantages. Before that she had submitted Astrid Scholin. In the final she got to mount on Caroline Vinhaes and locked in a triangle, a move that sits next to the choke from the back among the submissions she uses most.

In 2026 she was the runner-up at Europeans, beaten 4-2 by Cassia Moura in the final, and the runner-up at Pans, now representing Lebre Jiu-Jitsu, in a referee decision against former teammate Margot Ciccarelli. The featherweight world title changed hands that year and went to Sabrina Gondim.
