Who is Saulo Ribeiro

Saulo Ribeiro was born in Manaus, in northern Brazil, on July 2, 1974, and started Jiu-Jitsu at 15 at Academia Monteiro, to add submissions to his judo. In December 1991 he moved to Rio de Janeiro to study and began training at Gracie Humaitá under Royler Gracie, who gave him his black belt on November 27, 1995.

At the IBJJF World Championship he won five titles in four weight classes: middleweight in 1997, heavyweight in 1998, medium-heavyweight in 1999 and 2002, and super-heavyweight in 2000.

He was the one who gave a black belt to his younger brother, Xande Ribeiro. The two moved to San Diego, California, where they opened the University of Jiu-Jitsu in 2007 and founded the Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu association. They entered the IBJJF Hall of Fame together, in 2014.
