Eliza Nascimento

Eliza Carvalho Nascimento started Jiu-Jitsu as a child and came up through the kids’ classes at Marcio André Jiu-Jitsu (MAJJ) in Arizona, the same academy as Tarcisio Santos and Thierry Felipe.

She drew attention in 2023, at blue belt, when she won Europeans, Pans, the Brazilian Nationals and Worlds at lightweight, plus the open class at Europeans and Pans. At purple belt she won Europeans and Pans in 2024 and, in 2025, was European and world champion at lightweight. She got her brown belt on the podium at the 2025 Worlds.

She spent one year at brown belt. In 2025 she won her weight class and the open class at the Jiu-Jitsu CON, gi and no-gi, and the American Nationals. In 2026 she took bronze at Europeans and Pans, at lightweight, and at Worlds, at middleweight and in the open class. During that time she had a series of matches with Hungary’s Nikolett Kis, also invited to The Crown: they met eight times in 2025 and 2026, with five wins for Kis and three for Eliza, including the 2025 Worlds final at purple belt.

She got her black belt from Marcio André in June 2026. She debuted days later at the American Nationals and won middleweight, submitting Ághata Rabelo in the semifinal. In August she won her weight class and the open class at the San Diego Open, with three submissions.

She competes at The Crown on November 8, at lightweight.
