VF Comunica honors the top names in jiu-jitsu in 2025
The 2025 season is over and, once again, it is time to recognize the athletes, coaches and new talents who stood out the most in jiu-jitsu during the year.

The Jiu-Jitsu Awards by VF Comunica, created by journalist Vitor Freitas, is now in its third edition. The awards bring together some of the best performances of the season, from juveniles to black belts, in the gi and in No-Gi.
The goal of the awards is still to value the people who move the sport on and off the mats. It is also a moment to recognize the athletes and professionals who marked the year with their results, their performances and their impact on the competition scene.
The categories were: Coach of the Year, Best Gi Performance (Male), Best No-Gi Performance (Male), Best Gi Performance (Female), Standout No-Gi Athlete (Female), Standout Juvenile Athlete (Male), Standout Juvenile Athlete (Female), Breakout Black Belt (Male) and Breakout Black Belt (Female).
The winners were chosen in a vote by 4 black belts, 2 journalists who cover the sport, including Vitor Freitas, and one of the sport’s great women’s champions. As with any award, there was agreement, disagreement and a lot of debate, but always with respect for the sport and for the athletes who helped build a historic season.
