The social project “Fazendo a Diferença” uses Jiu-Jitsu as a social tool to change lives in the neighborhood of Sulacap, in Rio de Janeiro. The program is the initiative of Professor André Seabra, a black belt in Judo and Jiu-Jitsu. André has dedicated himself to volunteer work for nearly two decades. In this way, he passes on his knowledge and lessons to his students through martial arts.
The project offers Jiu-Jitsu classes to students with special needs. Thus, “Fazendo a Diferença” aims to introduce Jiu-Jitsu into the lives of people with Down’s syndrome, autism and fragile X syndrome.
Professor André Seabra transforms lives in Rio
Jiu-Jitsu black belt and founder of Jiu-Jitsu Tribe, Gustavo Dantas visited the “Fazendo a Diferença” social project. Gustavo had the opportunity to learn about the inspiring work of Professor André Seabra. Besides that, he knew stories of overcoming these young warriors who have fallen in love with Jiu-Jitsu.
Jiu-Jitsu Tribe reports on the minutiae of the project through a documentary and portrays André’s dedication and consistency with his purpose. In addition, Gustavo presents the benefits of “Making a Difference” to the region. Also, he points out how important Jiu-Jitsu has been for the students’ development.
