Seda College, a segment of the Irish Seda Education Group, is already known for its close relationship with Jiu-Jitsu. Sports support is one of the fundamental pillars of this foreign educational company whose mission is to train people for life. Tiago Mascarenhas, co-founder and CEO of Seda College, as well as a Jiu-Jitsu black-belt, spoke to the VF Comunica team and explained more about the social motivations so highly valued by the group specialized in teaching languages and promoting student exchanges.

“Seda Education Group is an educational company and Seda College is part of this group. We work on and support several projects. We know that there are several pillars at the base, and one of them is sports, which can provide support for a strong community and a strong future. That is why we are interested in promoting this area, in training people not only in the educational area, but also in other aspects. This is very important to us.”.

Tiago Mascarenhas sees Jiu-Jitsu’s potential to transform lives for the better

According to Tiago, choosing Jiu-Jitsu to support was something that happened after he and his professor, Jorge Santos, noticed the sport as a “tool for transformation”. In the IBJJF Brazilian Nationals alone, which took place on June 22nd and 23rd in São Paulo, Seda College supported more than 400 kids athletes, providing uniforms and transportation, in addition to paying for the tournament registration fee.

The goal of promoting the company by encouraging healthy sports practice has brought good results to the Seda group, which over the years has established partnerships with social projects, in a development and visibility method that works both ways.

“We have managed to establish other direct partnerships with more serious projects, such as TMD House (led by Márcio de Deus), which is a dedicated project known for its seriousness. In social projects, we analyze which ones have a need that can generate an impact, because when it is a team, a group, that already has profits, it is very difficult because there is already profitability there. We prefer projects that have more needs. Since one of our pillars is education, we exchange education for promoting the work of the Seda group.”.

Seda College is a solid educational company based in Europe

Another crucial point to further supply Seda Education Group with new support programs concerns the growth of Jiu-Jitsu worldwide. Today, it is a necessity for athletes who aspire to a sports career to invest time in learning a new language, for example. It is necessary to seek development on the mats, without forgetting to add educational tasks to the process. For this, there is nothing better than linking up with a group that is an authority on the subject, with an increasingly robust presence in Europe.

“We have student exchange programs here in Ireland. So, all international students can study, get a visa, and can also work. We currently have 4.000 students in Ireland. We also have a program just for Europeans, which will have over a thousand students this year. Another program is Seda Exchange, which works for the entire world. The flight tickets, insurance and courses are handled by this other company in the group.”.
