One of the talents in the kids group trained in Arizona, at Gracie Barra Chandler, under the guidance of Paulo ‘Piu’, Luke Fidler, who closed last year’s competition season with first place in the IBJJF ranking, is training hard to arrive prepared at the Brasileiro Kids, scheduled for the 22nd and 23rd of June, in Barueri, São Paulo, the same location as the adults’ tournament.

Upon arriving in Brazil to fight in the national competition, the stay will be the athlete’s first time in the country of Jiu-Jitsu. “I have never fought in Brazil. There are going to be new people and new Jiu Jitsu to push me to my limit. I’m going to train my hardest so that I will be able to take the gold back to America.”, he said.

Despite having already demonstrated a well-developed and efficient Jiu-Jitsu, which always takes him further in tournaments, Luke Fidler does not sit back and makes each experience a learning process to take his technical level further. “I am always learning and improving in every tournament.”.

Luke trusts in more complete Jiu-Jitsu to guarantee a gold streak

To remain at the top of the rankings at the end of this season, the yellow-belt will have to deal with some important challenges ahead. As his main goals, the athlete places the Brazilian Nationals, Pans and Euros Kids on his list of priorities. As improving in the sport also requires a study that goes beyond the competitor’s physical capabilities, Luke reveals himself to be a studious who wants to preserve his place at the top of the podium.

“I will study my opponents, learn and observe their game. Then, I will add on my game from what they do. I have seen improvement all throughout my game. I have improved the most on my top game by chaining my passes and understanding when and why to do different techniques. I will never stop learning and defining my Jiu Jitsu.”, he comments before stamping his passport in Brazil.
