The Grand Slam Miami could pit two of the new generation’s most promising purple belts against each other. Sarah Galvão, 17, and Eliza Nascimento, 18, are confirmed in the under 62kg division of the tournament and promise to heat up the fight for the gold medal.
Sarah will make her debut in the purple belt and will try to repeat the winning record that crowned her in previous belts. Sarah has attributes of her game that make her overwhelming in front of her opponents.
The prodigy daughter of André Galvão has the ability to blend strength, technique and precision. She is still young enough to compete in the youth category, but chose to venture into the adult division to test herself against more experienced opponents.
Eliza trains under Marcio Andre in Arizona and is also an outstanding competitor. The American is a true submission artist. Eliza has a tricky guard and uses her long legs to submit her opponents with the triangle and the armbar, which are her specialties.
At the moment, the bracket has three athletes registered, but the duels will heat up the competition. The Grand Slam Miami will take place in September 16 and 17 in Florida.
