A strong name among masters competitors, Cassio Silva has already understood the importance of focusing on tournaments that have the valorization and professionalization of the sport as a guide. This is the case of the AJP Tour, an increasingly powerful organization in the Jiu-Jitsu scene, with tournaments held frequently on different continents, providing a high-level structure in the championships, cash prizes, among other benefits, such as flight tickets.
“I already fought for the AJP ranking in 2022, I reached second place, AJP paid for my flight ticket, hotel, registration and even a private car to pick me up at the airport. In the end, I still won 13 thousand dollars. The sport has evolved a lot in recent years, there are several ways to make a living from Jiu-Jitsu, I managed to employ a student to live just from competing and teaching, it will only get better from now on.”, details the founder of School of Champs.
Cássio Silva is a professional who has now achieved a position of excellence as a representative of Jiu-Jitsu in France, a recognition obtained thanks to the credibility he has built in his career. According to him, in an interview with VF Comunica, the mentality of making Jiu-Jitsu a way of life in France is becoming increasingly common.
“I think that nowadays, in France, there are more people who believe that it can be successful than before, but I still think that this really blocks the evolution of Jiu-Jitsu’s professionalism here. I’m trying to change this in my academy and I’m succeeding, I want everyone who decides to make a living from sport not to be afraid and to believe that it will work.”, he states, using his own achievements in the country as arguments.
Cássio Silva comments on increasing opportunities for masters athletes
Renowned professor and athlete, Cássio’s trajectory, the most recent golds were those in the Tokyo stage of the AJP Tour Grand Slam and the IBJJF Euros, indicates that the 2024 season, still at the beginning, will be even more prominent. Aware of the importance of good self-promotion work, combined with impressive results on the mats, Cássio is one of those who benefit from the increasing recognition of athletes over 30 years of age.
“Many big names who made history in the adult division are fighting as masters and I think this increases the hype of the category, just as the masters are knowing how to use social media more consciously, to their advantage, doing good marketing.”, he comments, satisfied with the progress.
