The grappling Grand Prix promoted by the Blue Collar Fight Club will pit eight top-level grapplers against each other in pursuit of a check $25,000. The event will be held on September 1 in Fort Myers, Florida, and will also feature several gi and nogi superfights, as well as a seminar by Gilbert Durinho.
Current ADCC -88kg champion Giancarlo Bodoni is confirmed. John Danaher’s pupil will try to prove the superiority of his game over his opponents in order to win the tournament.
Bodoni has an exciting style and will attract more attention to the event due to his recent winning record. The New Wave Jiu-Jitsu athlete has surprised by beating the likes of Lucas Hulk, Matheus Diniz and Isaque Bahiense during his campaign for gold at ADCC 2022.
One of the organizers of the event and a BJJ black belt, Ben Kunzle pointed to Bodoni as the favorite for the Blue Collar GP.
“We want to see a great show at the event. In reality, the two favorites in my opinion are Giancarlo Bodoni and Vagner Rocha because they are the most experienced in the GP, but anyone can take it, it’s going to be great,” said Ben, in an interview with VF Comunica.
Blue Collar has announced a replacement for the Grand Prix. Vagner Rocha was removed from the card for unknown reasons and Devhonte “Bones” Johnson took the Brazilian’s place.
“Bones” joins Giancarlo Bodoni, Roosevelt Sousa, Roberto Jimenez, Jacob Rodriguez, André Porfirio, Elder Cruz and Andy Varela.
