Beating Ana Carolina Vieira in her ADXC debut in Rio de Janeiro was an achievement that elevated Aurelie Le Vern to a higher level, even though she was already at a very privileged position with important titles during the season. Aurelie won the Trials for the ADCC main event, secured a spot in Vegas but failed to win a medal. With the unanimous decision victory in the ADXC against the current ADCC champion in her division, Aurelie felt as if the taste of victory was even sweeter.

According to her, in an interview with VF Comunica shortly after the event, having studied Ana Vieira, a multiple champion who is among the most prestigious in the history of the sport, made a big difference in putting together the strategy.

“We really believed that we would face each other in the first fight of the ADCC. So we studied her a lot. The ADXC ruleset, in regards to timing, is very explosive. So I prepared myself a lot physically with Itallo Vilardo to feel comfortable in the conditioning. This was very important, because I knew that most of the fight would be against the cage and that is very physically exhausting. In terms of technique, the specific training that Tyrone (Gonsalves) put together for me made a big difference. I knew that she wouldn’t be able to keep up with my pace, she clearly got tired in the third round.”.

Aurelie Le Vern had a 100% positive experience in her ADXC debut

In her ADXC debut, Aurelie’s first impression was one that she will carry with her for the rest of her life. She was impressed with the structure and the way the organization welcomes and treats its athletes.

“First of all, I would like to thank Tyrone and Xande (Ribeiro) who were there to give me the right guidance. I am living a dream. ADXC has a structure and a project that are revolutionizing our sport. They really care about the athletes. The treatment was very good and I felt all the attention they gave me. I am looking forward to the next one.”.

IBJJF Grand Slam in the Gi? This is a possibility, just hypothetical, for 2025

After years of dedication to grappling, ending a season in a positive way, Aurelie says she has not yet reached where she wants to be in No Gi Jiu-Jitsu. According to her, 2025 holds many surprises and new territories that she intends to explore.

“Grappling is really a show business and I haven’t gotten to where I want to be in the world of No Gi. I will continue training grappling, yes. But I believe that in early 2025 I will defend my European title in Portugal. Who knows, maybe I will also try for the IBJJF Grand Slam. Nothing has been decided yet, but one thing is certain – for 2025 I want big challenges. One of them is to be able to debut in BJJ Stars, because I know that Fepa (Lopes) takes great care of the invited athletes.”.
