Who is Daniel Otero
Daniel Otero won the 2006 Worlds at roosterweight, with Ivaniel Oliveira in second place and, on the third step of the podium, Felipe Costa and Samuel Braga, champions of the division in 2003 and 2005. Three years earlier he had already reached the roosterweight final, taking silver behind Felipe Costa.
A Rio native, he came up under Fabricio Martins, who gave him his black belt at the end of 2002. Before that he reached the Worlds podium at the colored belts, with roosterweight bronze at blue belt in 2000 and at purple in 2001.
Alongside the gi, he fought MMA. He debuted in 2003 at Shooto Brazil, still as an amateur, and as a professional put together six wins, three of them by triangle, one draw and one loss, by disqualification, in Shooto in Japan in 2007. His last two fights were in 2008, at Max Fights.
