Who is Leticia Ribeiro
Leticia Ribeiro was born in Rio de Janeiro on February 24, 1978, and started Jiu-Jitsu at 15 at Gracie Tijuca, with Arthur Carthiar and Marcelo Machado. She wanted to get in shape and did not like lifting weights; a friend invited her to a class, and she stayed. The academy, an affiliate of Gracie Humaitá, had coaches such as Saulo Ribeiro, Royler Gracie and Vini Aieta, and the last two gave her a black belt.
She won the IBJJF World Championship seven times, the first in 2000 and the last in 2012. In 2009 she told her students she would stop competing to focus on teaching, but she went back to the mats and won three more titles.
Based in San Diego, California, she became a reference in coaching women. Bia Mesquita got her black belt from her. She has been in the IBJJF Hall of Fame since 2014.
