Who is Robson Moura

Robson Moura, known as Robinho, was born on March 23, 1978, and grew up in Teresópolis, in the mountains outside Rio de Janeiro, where he started training at 10 with Ailson “Jucão” Brites. When his coach left town, he went to Nova União, the team of André Pederneiras and Wendell Alexander, then the top squad in the lighter weight classes.

A purple belt world champion in 1996, he was promoted to black belt the following year, ahead of the federation’s minimum time, so he could fight the Worlds at the highest rank. He won the tournament from 1997 to 2000 and took the title again in 2007.

Based in the United States, he created his own association, RMNU, short for Robson Moura Nations United. He was inducted into the IBJJF Hall of Fame in 2014.
